My Approach to Family Photos
Your family photos shouldn't be like anyone else's because your family isn't like any other. As a mom to an industrious trio of boys, I can tell you we don't spend our days running in tandem through flowered meadows and gather around in our matching outfits. Our days are chaotic and colorful, messy and mesmerizing, exhausting and exhilirating. And I think family photos should show that.
This is why I love candid photography: it prioritizes authenticity over perfection. And I believe that as we show more of ourselves exactly as we are, we create a society that is more understanding and less judgmental, less fearful. A society where our our kids can grow up and be themselves—and see the beauty in others who are different from them.
