While I live in Nashville, I travel to families' homes throughout the United States and beyond to photograph their unscripted lives, without any direction, for up to 16 hours at a time. My goal is that you and your family don't have to stress about fitting any mold society has deemed important. I will be with you for morning cuddles, grocery shopping, swim lessons, meltdowns, playtime, and bedtime stories. I will capture organic, beautiful photos that you will be proud to hang on your wall.
The world we live in does not always allow people to show up as their authentic selves; we still have a long way to come in appreciating and honoring our differences. After a traumatic event involving a loved one, I spent several years diving deep into learning about people different from me. The more experiences I read and listened to from people of different races, ethnicities, neurotypes, and abilities, the angrier I became. I want us all to be able to be who we are, and for that to be celebrated.
Candid photography—photographing families member in their everyday environments and activities, without staging or posing them—is one way I recast that anger into something beautiful and promote positive change in my little corner of the world. Your family doesn’t need to fit into any mold in order to get wonderful pictures.
I believe that as we show more of ourselves exactly as we are, we create a society that is more understanding and less judgmental, less fearful. This is why I do candid photography: so that our kids can grow up and be themselves—and see the beauty in others who are different from them.
My son attends a 100 % outdoor school, my living room has a built-in jungle gym, and we don’t have a TV. I’m all about being outside and letting kids be active, loud, and muddy.
I served a mission for my church in Brazil, where I learned Portuguese. I then studied Spanish in order to teach my children, which has been super helpful in helping our kids pick out my voice amongst crowds.
I love to travel. I love throwing myself into new cultures, Although I am very scared of trying new food. I recently took a dip into the Dead Sea after sweating in a sauna.
I have a tendency to break my toes every couple of years. I broke them on my wedding day and still danced the night away. So no worries if I break them while shooting your family; I'll finish out the shoot no problem.
