Great question! Lifestyle is the stepping stone between posed photography and documentary photography. Lifestyle photography involves prompts from the photographer—‘Everyone, run this way,’ ‘tickle little Sammy!’ ‘Tell Susan a secret’—to capture sweet moments. On the other hand, documentary photography is completely undirected. As the photographer, I won't say anything about what you should do or adjust anything to take a picture. And the results are delightful.
Short answer: No. :)
Long answer: I am a photojournalist, which means I capture events as they occur, with almost no interference (i.e., creating backdrops or posing). This allows me to capture the little moments of the day, the essence of each family. If you’ve only ever done traditional family photos and the idea of capturing your family in their natural state scares you, I get it. But I promise you your photos won’t be like anyone else’s.
Yes! I’m based in Nashville, TN, but I’ll travel anywhere in the continental U.S. for a session. I also make a great vacation companion. Travel fees included.
The full-day session requires no preparation on your part! I work to get unfiltered, organic moments of your family, and that just means accompanying you on a typical day.
However, I will meet with you before our session to help make any plans and ease any stress you may have about the shoot. I understand that this is a different kind of session, and I want to take any homework you may feel off your plate.
Wear what you would normally wear. Let your kids do the same. Au naturel is also acceptable.
Yes, I do solo and couple sessions—I can get great photos of any permutation of people (and pets). I love photographing kids, but I appreciate a break every once in a while.
I want these photos to elevate your state of happiness and bring more love into your home. As such, all photos come as a physical and digital print. You will have access to the photos within 3 weeks of our session. If you plan to share your photos on social media, I ask that you please tag Lucy Page Photography. See my socials below.
